You may format your text using the buttons directly above the editing box. Additional formatting rules may be found at Formatting-MediaWiki.
How do I create an account for the Research Wiki?
You are required to create an account before you can edit the Research Wiki. Creating an account will also allow you to set certain preferences in the wiki and perform special functions such as uploading files, as well as let us know that any changes made by you are yours.
To create an account click on the log in/create an account link in the top right corner of the screen. Then when the log in screen appears click on the link inside the box labeled Create an account. Select a username and a password. You may also provide your email address and real name, although these are not required. Then click on the create an account button and your account will be created.
How do I edit a page in the Research Wiki?
To edit a page simply click on the edit tab found at the top of the page. A screen for editing the page will appear. Type in your change or addition, then select the save button at the bottom of the edit screen. It is recommended that you preview your changes before saving by clicking on the Show Preview button at the bottom of the page.
How do I add a new page to the Research Wiki?
To add a new page, find the page that the new page will link from. Click on the edit tab found at the top of the page. Create an internal link by using the internal link button or typing the name of the new page in double brackets. For example [[New Page]]. The words in between the double brackets will be the title of the new page. If you wish to have the link read something else type [[New Page|This is the link for the New Page]]. The link will now read This is the link for the New Page. Then click the save button at the bottom of the screen. The link to the new page will show up in red indicating that no information has yet been added to the page. To add information to your new page click on the link to the new page. Because the new page currently has no information in it you will be taken directly into the edit screen for the page when you click on the link. Add the information you wish to be found on the new page, and then click the save button at the bottom of the screen.
How do I add a link to an item in the library's catalog?
Create a stable link to an item record in the catalog going into the full item record and clicking on the button labeled Staff Record at the top. Find the field marked 001. Next to the 001 there should be another number. Combine that number with
http://voyager.lndl.org/cgi-bin/Pwebrecon.cgi?BBID=
to get for example
http://voyager.lndl.org/cgi-bin/Pwebrecon.cgi?BBID=695828
then place that link inside the [ ] brackets to create an external link as you would normally.
So a link for the record for the book Empire Falls would look like this [http://voyager.lndl.org/cgi-bin/Pwebrecon.cgi?BBID=695828 PS3568.U812 E4 2002] and the wiki user would see PS3568.U812 E4 2002
